The beginning of something special.
Never did I imagine starting a non profit. That all changed in the spring/summer of 2018 after dealing with the aftermath of the Thomas Fire. You can read more regarding that on the "About" page of the website. The creation of Restore Education After Disasters (READ) has provided a deep healing for me and is allowing me to share what I learned through the experience of dealing with a disaster in a. school setting.
While I had the benefit of the fire occurring shortly before the students went on Holiday break and then having a month to get the campus ready for their return, most schools do not have that time on their side when disasters hit. Restore Education After Disasters mission is to get to a disaster site quickly and begin restoring educational services for the children in order to help them regain a sense of normalcy. By doing so, families will be able to take care of their own needs while READ provides the educational services.
I wish to say a big thank you to my family and friends who are assisting with this endeavor. Great things lie ahead as we help schools in their time of need.
